Before you spend a lot of money, just buy a 12 volt voltage regulator. Follow the instructions in the package and change the polarity. Neg/Pos ground. Buy a 12 volt battery, and I think you should be set. I have had my 48 H running like this for a year. No problems yet. Irv

It's a bit more detailed than that. You also need... a 12 volt generator... It is doubtful that a 6 volt generator would have enough ummmf to produce the 14 volts you would need for a 12 volt system. Also, you need to reverse the coil leads... add a resistor (if you don't switch to a 12 volt coil) .. repolarize the generator.... reverse the ammeter leads, if you want it to read correctly.... on and on.

Just read the articles.. and plan on switching to an alternator. Besides, the alternator has it's own regualtor - you don't even need to mess with another regulator. An old Delco 10SI can be had at a junkyard for.. maybe $10 if you pull it yourself.

I presume that you could get a kit at genessee.com ... but they are a bit pricey compared to doing it yourself. The principle is the same... just read up on how they are done. There is a primer on how to do it under "Articles" to the left of this web page. I've found that the hardest part of the whole project is to fabricate the mounting bracket for the alternator. And for the M, it wasn't all that difficult. I wouldn't think a 300 would be much different.
