I have a friend that has a 1929 22-36 that has been restored and is complete, his dad just bought a 15-30 of unknown vintage. there are some stark differences in these two tractors and am hoping we can get some information on the 15-30....

Engine: no water pump, must use thermo syphon as hoses are quite large.
engine block different altoghter, has a sheet metal cover just below the head, is this a valve in block style motor? is the cover for valve adjustment? crank shaft access cover has a breather in it. has a flat belt running the fan.

Tranny: instead of the single cast cover this 15-30 has a smaller cover where the gear shift is and has the 1-2-3-R cast into it.

Others: there is no saw tooth edge style of governor control rod.

the family it was purchased from had said something about the head being "English" could this have been and export tractor that made it's way back or was never sent out?

thank you for your time, Brian W.

What you have is one of the early 15-30. The 15-30 didn't have a water pump. Most 15-30 and 22-36 engines look the same, execpt the early ones. I know were there is one sitting just like you have discribed.

Hello Brain, ---- 29 / July / 2002 -----

The International McCormick Deering 15-30 was made from 1921 to 1928 and had a #381.5 (gas) / 4 cylinders / 4 1/2 x 6 (pistons). The International McCormick Deering 15-30 / 22-36 was made from 1929 to 1934 and had a #425 (gas)
/ 4 cylinders / 4 3/4 X 6 (pistons).

The last PARTS CATALOG - by IHC - covered both the 15-30 and the 22-36 tractors, and were made in the USA (none were made in England). Some had "McCormick Deering" on the front of radator - while other tractors had "International".
The drive tran was differant on the 2 tractors.
The SERIAL NUMBER PREFIX letters for these 2 tractors is "TG" (for the motor "TGM"). Regards, Milton
