I have an M that the left brake hangs up. I just got it home so I haven't had time to do anything to it. Any suggestions of what to do?

I would also like to convert to 12 volt can someone point me in the right direction of the parts I need and how to convert it.

Thanks,
Bob G

Bob you will need to remove the brake pans, what you likely have is a brake band shaft seized into the tractor. There should be a brass bushing in the hole into which the brake band shaft goes. I have seen the bushing almost worn away and the shaft rusted in. Soaking in penetrating oil , heating and moving the brake band arm will eventually work it loose. You need to clean the hole, put a new brass bushing in and lube the brake band shaft with white grease. I had one on an H and it took two of us almost 4 hours to unseize it and get the brake band shaft out...hard to believe something can seize that tight...good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario

On that hanging left brake, do you mean the pedal is not returning to the deck edge?

On 12 volt conversion, do you want to stay with a 12 generator/voltage regulator, or go the alternator route?

The pedal returns to the deck. Evidently the brake band or something in the area is hanging up.

I would like to go with a one wire (GM) alternator.

Thanks,
Bob G

Punch below for Bob's super diagrams and select the one you want to go with.

You will have to remove that brake cover. It is probably full of dirt!!
