Hi to everyone. I have what I thought was a Super A, thanks to the help of the people in this forum. Over the weekend I purchased a book on Farmall letter series tractors. By looking at pictures in the book, the tractor may be an AV. I thought the wheels on my tractor looked to big to be an A. The AV had wheels about 5" larger than the A. But, the front wheels in the picture don't match mine. The number I found under the first sparkplug says it is a Super A. None of the AV serial numbers are close. Also I can't find any letter markings as of yet, such as FAA, FAAV, etc. My hope was to restore this tractor correctly, but I'm having trouble just getting out of the starting gate. Any thoughts or comments will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Bob.

If you can't tell from Guy Fay's book, your tractor must be heavily modified, as his book is the best ID book there is. As to wheels the A has 15 inch front, 24 inch rear; the AV has 19 inch front, 36 inch rear (same wheels as the C). The AV rears slide in and out on an axle, the A has wheels on a hub that can be reversed or moved on the rim. If you have an AV and the engine serial number prefix is FAAM, the engine was replaced with one from a Super A.

Have you looked at the Serial number under the seat? Is it still there? Can you post a picture of the beast?
