I need to repair the pipe that runs through the radiator for the steering column. Can someone list the procedure for it. I'm assuming that you need to loosen the colar up by the steering wheel. Will the shaft slide out of the steering box in front of the radiator or do I need to loosen something.

Thanks,
Bob G

Remove the hood and grille. Clean the steering shaft over the engine. If the shaft is covered with grease and dirt, that stuff may end up in your steering gear. Take the cast iron cap off of the front of the steering gearbox at the top of the pedestal. Disconnect the front steering shaft in the middle at the U-Joint. The steering wheel and collar can stay where they are. You can then thread the worm gear out of the front of the pedestal and pull the shaft forward.
