What I have done on my '34 Chev and a number of small engines is get the torque spec for the bolts off a standard torque chart making the assumption that the bolts were heat treated to some degree. With that in mind,I assume a Grade 5 bolt and measure the diameter. It then becomes a mater of simply looking up the torque on the chart. On my old truck, the bolts were 1/2" coarse thread.Torque spec was 80 ft-lbs.I would strongly suggest replacing the bolts because they do stretch.

That is interesting. If I recall correctly the bolts were 5/8s shank. Do you happen to know what the torque specs are on such a diameter?

Its somewhere in the archive but I think that the general concensus was that it was 70,same as the As,Bs and other with the 113 engine.I think i did my 14 at 70 or 75

That's a very good question. In the end after talking with a number of knowledgeabe people we determined that the proper torque was between 90-100 ft lbs. We settled on 90.
