My son has a chance to pick up a wide front-end off a Super C . Would it fit his H, or would it be too light? The price is right so we will probably pick it up anyway. Are we on the right track, or should we keep looking for an H front end?

The C wide front won't fit the H without a lot of modification. As the others said, the C wide front is not heavy duty enough for the H.

It has red rims instead of aluminum.
Since it seems to be a early H, the hood decal should say McCormic-Deering.
And of course, the "C" should be a "H".

No, it's not a fake, just an H with a C decal on it.

It obviously isn't a C, someone has used the wrong decal. What does the serial plate say? anyone going to trouble of restoring tractor and using wrong decals, would probably switch serial plate.

Another item I notice is hood doesn't seem to be matching front section over radiator. That could be photo.

We have two SC's with wide fronts and in my opinion you would not be happy with one on an H, I am sure it could be adapted to fit, if not a direct fit. That front axle is pretty light, the front end on the first tractor was all welded and cobbled up, I spent hours rebuilding it, copied it piece for piece. If it breaks up that bad on a SC, I can only imagine what a larger, heavier H would do to it. Of course this tractor had been abused a good portion of it's life but now it is spoiled! So I am sure care is a good part of how it would hold up as well.

I would trade it or sell it and make some bucks then buy one to fit your H. I personally would not have a WFE. Too hard to turn and they just look goofy, in my opinion. You also seem to need an acre to turn one around. But, I have never turned one over. If I had, I might reconsider my position.

You would definitaly change your mind if you had hay to make on steep hills and ditches. Also if you ever used a loader on your tractor.

I bet I can turn just as sharp with my Schwartz wide front on my H - that's why they are called "turning" brakes. Although I do like storing my narrow front F-12 and F-14, they take up the same space as my H!!

I agree with you. They are too hard to turn and look "goofy"...sepecially on a Super C. On utilities, they're OK...but not on row crop tractors. How are you gonna get the mounted picker on a wide front H or M with a wide front. Even goofier would be a wide front LP tractor!! Cmore

Most definitely on a utility, but not a row crop indeed. They always seem to sit too high in the front for some strange reason.

Most wide front ends for a H will also fit an M and vise versa. But as JD says the wide front end for a C is much lighter and probably wouldn't be a good idea.
