BOBBY - There's a pin under the cover on the gearshift lever...it runs side-to-side, left to right as You sit on the tractor... it has a steel plug pressed into a bore about 1/2" to 3/4" dia. and You have to poke a hole into one of those covers if there isn't a hole already. If there is a hole use a punch and beat the pin out the other side thru the hole. Lift the gearshift up out of the transission and them align the notches in the shift rails like JOE says. His 460 is newer and the gearshift mount is bolted on. Your Super M it's cast as part of the top cover of the transmission & rear end. When the rails are lined back up set the gearshift down into place again and slide the pin back into place... and tap the hole plug back in if possible.

I think a 5/8" flat frost plug will replace the steel plugs that hold the pin in.

try taking off the shifter lever (three 3/8" bolts) and with clutch depressed, try moving the shifting forks back in line with a large screwdriver. Sometimes our 460 gets stuck in gear and you have to do this, but I've never heard of an SM doing it.
