What brand and weight of oil do you guys run in your farmalls to get them broke in? I have been running Valvoline 30wt. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks Bob

Down here in Arizona I broke my H in on 30 wt then switched to 15w-40 Delo from chevron, I run that in my dodge turbo diesel so though I might as well use it in my tractors as well. It holds great oil pressure even in the worst of heat!

I have CaseIH straight SAE 30 in my H since I overhauled. Plan on changing it around 50 hours and switching to 10W for the winter months. So far hasn't used a drop in 35 hours.

Steven, from some of your posts I know you're a good mechanic,so I was wondering why you go to straight 10 oil for winter.I would think 5w-30 or 10w-30 would give your engine better lubrication after it warms up.Personally,I would shy away from the straight 10 because it tends to thin out too much when it warms up.

Just the way we have done it for 20 years on our farm. The 1086 and 1256 have always got the straight 10W CaseIH oil since new on the 1086 and since we got the 1256. It gets cold here in the winter, highs are usually in the 20's, lows around 20 below zero.

Dad never has run multi-weight oil in any of his stuff. I am considering 15W-40 for my H year-round though. Brother uses Rotella in his Cummins and loves it, just might have to try that.

I've been running 15W-40 Rotella in my old equipment for the last 5 yrs as well. It doesn't get used much or hard... but it's sure better keeping ONE oil around for everything... gas or diesel, air or water cooled.
