Hello, I have found two farmall H's and am interested in buying them. I just wanted to tell what was wrong with them and get some feed back on if it is a good purchase from the wise ones. One of the H's is a 1945 model and has a loader on it. It was used to push manure out of the dairy barns. It runs good, but when you let out on the clutch it kills the motor. But not like it is the carb out of adjustment. It is more like the tranny is locked up. Any ideas. This tractor is complete and has good fronts but poor rears. The second is a 49' model and doesnt run. It is missing the hood and grill and the front end. Doesnt look like it has ran for quite sometime. I think they have used it for parts for the 45'. The guy I am buying them from knows who he got them from well and thinks they might have the front end for the 49 and the sheet metal. Is this a good buy without the sheet metal and front end or is it only a good buy if it is two complete tractors. He is wanting $800. Thanks Brad

I agree, it's just hung up in two gears and what a bargain. Pay him the $800 for the loader and he just throws in the two tractors!

$800 for both? Grab 'em before he changes his mind & if you decide ya don't want 'em, let me know where you are located-I'll come & get 'em. If the '45' brakes are not rusted tight & it shifts but won't move, it probably has a bearing out in the rear end & one of the balls is wedged between the bull gear and the bottom of the housing. Try rocking it backwords-sometimes if they are not wedged too tight, they will come loose, but ya gotta take the top of the case off & get in there to fix it. If you can't shift it, its probably locked in two gears. Take the shifter off & align the forks. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

$800 for the pair doesnt sound bad. The one that runs is probably just stuck in 2 gears which is a fairly simple fix. You'll have to pull the shifter out, then align the shift rails with a big screwdriver to get it back in neutral.
