Andy,

Maybe you could think about rebuilding the magneto yourself. As long as the magnet is still good, the rebuilding process for the magneto is very simple....Basically, what you would need is the following: Point set, coil, condensor, rotor, and cap. You can get those at about any auto parts store for a lot cheaper than you could have one rebuilt. However, if you are not mechanically inclined, Jack Chandler at www.magneeders.com is an expert in the field of magnetos. His shop is about a 10 minute drive from where I teach. But, the magneto is a lot simpler than many people think, and I think that with any mechanical inclination at all, you could do it yourself. I have my students rebuild their own magnetos. We've rebuilt Fairbanks-Morse, IH F-4 and H-4 and J-4, as well as one from a dang ol 2 cylinder.

Good luck with whatever you decide....This forum would be more than happy to walk you through a rebuild I'm sure!

I would recommend magneeders.com I have sent stationary engine mags to them and been pleased with their work. Maybe they could just do an exchange with you also.
