In a couple of weeks I am going to put my farmall h up for the winter. I was planning on changing the oil and filter before i put it up and I was wondering, in the spring when I am ready to run it again will the oil still be good or does it have to be changed again? I figure it will probably be sitting for six to seven months. Any other suggestions i should do before i put it up for the winter? thanks Bob

Go ahead and change the oil if you feel like it. We farm, so a few of our tractors get let sitting all winter. I just let them sit... no attention to battery, oil, clutch, etc, and they work fine every spring, summer, and fall. But if it makes you more comfy to change the oil, go ahead. But if you are gonna be a lazy butt like me, be sure to still change oil and lube, etc, at recommended intervals.

Yep, change the oil before you put it away and don't worry about it when you start it up again. Oil can't wear out from just sitting.

Don't forget to block the clutch.

I am not sure what you mean by blocking the clutch? Do you mean Block the pedal so it is pressed in? Thank Bob

That is correct Bob. I have one H that has a sticky clutch plate. I keep that pedal blocked in when I am not using it.

Bob I change them once a year as technique. I don't think the tractor sitting for 6 months can hurt it all that much. You might get different opinions on this though.

Don't forget to put stabilizer in the fuel and a squirt of oil in each cylinder won't hurt either, especially in the higher humidity area's. I would also disconect the battery cable(the ground side) LOL.
