Thank you all for your response. I think I confused the issue. Since I can't post a picture here is a rough approximation of what I am trying to describe. Rocker arm to valve stem contact surface >/ --< valve stem. If you mentally rotate this post 90 degrees to the right it shows the relationship of the rocker arm and valve stem contact aurfaces. The view is standing at the engine looking directly at the valve stem and rocker arm. The angle on the rocker looks af if it was formed that way during manufacture. However the angle is not exactly consistent on all arms. I am trying to determine if this is normal for the H.

Thanks for the replies. All very helpful. Zonie, you hit the nail on the head. That is exactly what I was trying to say. I have never seen a set up like this before so I thought it must be wrong. I need to learn how to post pictures. A digital camera would be nice. Not cheap though. Thanks again all.

When you look at all your "rocker arm too valve stem" contact, you are looking at differnt stages of valve opening and closing....the cam shaft is raising and lowering the rocker arms according to fireing order.....You are comparing apples and ornges.....check each set ,when the valves are closed ....turn engine until you the timming mark lines up with pully mark....you will find that on at least "one" cyl, you can turn both push rods with your fingers.....both valves are closed ...Look at those two rocker/valve stems....keep turning engine untill mark comes up again ,look for a set of loose push rods and check them.....keep doing this until you have looked at all 4 cyl..... .that is what you want to compare...By the way you can follow the fireing order as you turn and align the timming marks....This is also how to adjust the valve clearnce, when both valves are closed.....Sorry about the long post....

If I understand what your post says, The rocker arms contat with the valve stem is angled some what to the front or back of the engine?
This surface is usually parrallel to the valve stem, if it was angled then I'd think it would put slight side ways pressure on the valve stem that could accelerate valeguide wear.
I think some one must have tried to resurface the rocker arms.
I'd take them to a auto machine shop who can resurface them properly.
Of course I could be totally wrong, but I'm not wrong often, HA!
