rear end as yet... I am guessing that hyd pump
is supplied from front fill?? Thanks...

Allen:

Fellow my age ought not to try to work from memory and should also read a little more carefully. Refill data is this:

1. Hydraulic system and powersteering- 3 gallons

2.Transmission- a. With front mounted hydraulic pump and draft control-17 gallons b. With front mounted pump but w/o draft control- 14 gallons c. W/O either- 5 gallons

Hydraulic is filled behind seat fill up to about an inch or so of the top. Transmission is filled beside gear shift. Check plug on side about level with floor pan for transmission.Transmission and rear are the same. Use Hy Trans or an oil that is compatable. Power steering and hydraulic system use the same resivour. some have a filter below the dash in front of the gear shift. It is an inline filter.

Allen:

With front mounted hydraulic pump and diesel engine, the 444 requires 17 gallons of fluid. Fill next to shift lever. Bring up to six inches of filler opening. Just did mine 2 weeks ago. Therefore I remember. David is right, of course, about the kind of fluid.

If you have gas engine , repost. Maybe I will remember to check tonight.

Hytran is used in gearbox and hydraulics. The power steering and hydraulic reservoir is under the seat. there shold be a plug to the rear for draining, and afill plug on top. I don't have the amount each holds handy..
