What's normal operating temp. for an H?

The thermostat(s) control the operating temperature. They should be modulating the temperature at all times and the radiator should be able to cope with the heat dissipation at the maximum horsepower of the engine. If the temperature is rising above the thermostat rating there is trouble with the cooling system. No exception.

The thermostat should start opening around 160 degrees. Under heavy loads it can get as high as 200.

180 degrees is about normal
