advise wanted:, seems that the throttle is stuck about half open,,, all linkage seems ok,, but as it goes through the governor, it doesn;t carry through to the linkage to the carb.,,, seems like a loss of connection in the governor cover. any advise would be appreciated.,, thank you

YOU MAY FIRST TRY TAKING THE LINKAGE OFF AT THE CARB AND BE SURE THAT THE LINKAGE DIRECTLY ON THE CARB IS OK. IF THAT IS OK YOUR PROBLEM IS PROBABLY INSIDE THE GOVERNER ITSELF, MAYBE A BROKEN SPRING, OR THE SMALL BEARING ON THE END OF THE SHAFT. IF YOU NEED PARTS I HAVE SOME EXTRA GOVERNER PARTS LAYING AROUND.

There is a spring inside governor that connects the two, input and output, probably broken. It could be a couple other items in there. I had governor problems about 12 years ago, on two tractors with same governor, SA and 130. I remember I replaced spring on one. There is a thrust berring I replaced on both. I am just a bit rusty on what cured which problem.

Remove the governor, it will be quite obvious what problem is. That governor is a bit trying to get out without removing rad and fan, but is possible. You will scrape a few knuckles and probably say a few unkind words.

Next time, take the keys out so your son can't operate the tractor without your guidance.
