had to take the radiatior out fix it. you have to take the steering apart to get the radiator out. the steering has some play in it how do you fix it ? would like to while i've got it apart any help would be very welcome don

Don, There are about 6 different places in the steering assy. that can cause play. The worm shaft U joint, the worm shaft thrust bearing, the sector and worm gear, the upper bolster shaft bushing(latteral play), lower shaft bushing, and shaft thrust bearing. I ended up replacing everything mentioned except the U joint. The bushings and seals run about $175 from Case IH. The sector and worm I got from a parts yard for $65 for the pair. As for how to do the job, look in the achives under bolster rebiuld. Some dude even has good pictures posted of the job.

did my 400 for about a hundred bucks for seals and bushings, I think. And as for the sector gear, just give it a half turn when you reinstall and that'll take care of most of the wear.
