I am going to an auction this saturday where there are two tractors. One is a 756 and other is a 856. They both look pretty good from the road. I am wanting to pull a hot farm tractor in 9300lb class. Could I put a motor out of a 966 or 1066 into either one of these tractors? If it will fit how hard would this be to accomplish? Thanks for info

I would be inclined to go with the 856 and build the 407 engine. They come on real strong and accept souping up quite well, probably do about as good as a later style engine. Ask for 1206SWMO, he used to pull one. In it's day the 407 was THE bad cat in the alley as far as pulling engines went. Of course I have always been partial to the 56 series.

Yes it can be done. You have to change bellhousing, framerails, linkages for throttle, and more. It would work good if you had the whole tractor 966 or 1066 and switched parts that way.

I don't recall where I got this info, check with salvage yards, they generally know what fits and how.
