I just purcahsed a Cub and would like to know if there is a conversion kit out there to switch it from the old 6 volt to 12 volt. Thanks!

Ditto...6V batteries are less than $40, so unless you need both a generator and a battery I wouldn't do it (wouldn't even if both were bad).

As an aside, the 184 Cub loboy used an alternator / 12V system. The alternators are available from Autozone, etc for about $40 (they will have to cross reference part numbers) but from everything I have read, that is a very attractive option if you really want 12V.

E-mail me an I'll dig through my manual to get you the part numbers.

6 volt system will work just fine on a Cub, I wouldn't spend the money on a conversion unless there was a need to replace a major componant (like a generator) anyway.
If you check at the top of this page, there is a link to 12 volt kits. I haven't tried one myself though.
Or you can click on the "Articles" link at the left and read "A Step by Step 12 volt Conversion" by Bob M. It is a very good guide to the job.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the input on the 6v vs. 12v. I had heard that 6V batteries are getting harder to come by, hence my thinking of converting to a 12V. I think I'll check a few battery dealers and see what they have to say. Thanks again.

Try AutoZone or some other auto parts stores. They typically have them. I think 6V batteries will be around a while.
