Neutral safety switch on IH-574

I just purchased a IH-574 and the wiring is a mess. There is no safety switch to prevent it from starting in gear. It fires quickly and has plenty of power, therefore it is a real danger. I have learned to check it myself but I'm more concerned about those that are not quite as familiar with the machine. I assume it came from the factory with a safety switch but I cannot find any shop manuals to look over the wiring diagrams, the two local dealerships both have the books missing. One of the techs thought the switch was on the shifter, the other thought it was on the clutch.

Any help please.

Like the other two guys said, the switch is on the clutch pedal on British IH utilities. An auto parts store should be able to provide you with a universal fit, long-stem(lots of thread for proper adjustment) momentary contact switch for a LOT less money than a switch from CASEIH.

Im not sure about the wiring, but the actual switch is located behind the clutch so you have to engage the clutch each time u want to start the tractor

The switch is wired in between the starter solenoid S terminal and the S terminal on the key switch. The switch is located on a bracket under the left side of the dash near the clutch pedal pivot When you press down on the clutch pedal the pedal pivot pushes in the plunger on the safety switch. The switch is a small round switch with 2 terminals on the back and a plunger on the front and mounted throught a hole in the bracket held in place by a ring nut.
Hope this helps.
