Just looked at a 300 that the owner's asking $1500 for- TA hasn't worked in years, but it started easily & didn't smoke, the tin was in pretty good shape, rims good, tires fair, - I want a working tractor, and would prefer something with 3 pt hitch, but at the asking price, maybe a conversion would make sense - any comments would be much appreciated.

I paid $1800 for a 300 with a wfe... metal wasn't that hot... needed a carb..had a good TA.... I installed a Saginaw 3 point..and I just loved that tractor.. It was a perfect second tractor for me... I used it extensively with a 5 ft tiller.. using slow first gear. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I had to take the brakes apart every year and clean up the rust. I had too much condensation inside the brake housings. The hydraulics didn't work with my round baler...leaky seal on the pump which I repaired, but still the oil leaked off, and the baler unlocked, and door opened on me...

Bought a 300, good tin, no paint, tires hold air, one rim badly rusted, T/A weak, brakes weak, 12v conversion, standard drawbar, engine strong no smoke, SW Iowa, April 2002 for $1200 delivered. Have put in $450 in repairs so far. But it is just what I need/want for a small alfalfa farm. Since then have seen other 300s advertised at about comparable prices. Good luck Dick
