Ok, I finally get the tractor started and it will idle. If I try to increase RPMs it will start to labor then shut off like I killed the switch. If I pull back on the throttle quick enough it will stay running but then after about thirty seconds shut off. It is getting gas. As a matter of fact gas is dripping from the bottom of carb. I would think I have carb problems but when it cuts off it does not spit, sputter or act like a fuel problem. It just dies like a firing problem. I am baffled. Any advice before I start using the process of elimination would be helpful.

I also had the same problem with my Farmall M.
The Gas running out the bottom is from an over flow of gas coming back into the carb when the engine stops. Either lack of fire or your float is stuck would be my best guess. First thing I would do check your float to make sure it isn't stuck or sticking as gas fills the bowl. This would cause your mixture to be way off b/c the level of fuel isn't what your tractor needs to run properly. Are you smelling a very rich gas smell before, during and after she fires? Secondly, I would check your wiring and make sure that you haven't some how got your tractor wired 180 degrees off. It's something easy to do when your trying to fix problems and it happens to us all. It's also cheaper than a new carb. After that, I would invest in a carb rebuild kit and then set your carb to the standard factory settings when you go to start it up again. Those settings are your best bet to at least get her running again even if it's only on three legs. Every tractor is different and has it's own personality but those standard settings will at least give you a ball park idea of where to start tuning. I wish I could give you the settings per needle/valve but I don't have them in front of me right now. If you would like, email me sometime and I will do my best to get them to you. Hang in there and don't give up. The ole' girl will jump when you touch her the right way!

I had the same problem with my M. I rebuilt the carburetor and put the needle valve in upside down(blunt end toward fuel bowl inlet). This causes gas to constantly drizzle in. But at a slow rate so that it could idle, but when the throttle is opened up it starved. Another possibility is that the fuel filter inside the carb(where the gas line screws into) is plugged.

"Gas is dripping from the bottom of the carb" ???

That doesn't sound right. Either the float is stuck or damaged, flooding out when you open the throttle.

Open up the high speed mixture screw 1/2 turn and see if that helps.
