I have a '41 H and going down the road or hard surface my steering will start shaking badly so i can only go in fifth gear with falf throttle unless on a gravel road.

Hey welcome to the club.
I have been chasing the old wobble wheel on my 44 H all summer.
here is what I did.
#1 tightened the spacer that is at the steering post. 2 allen screws.
#2 Tightened the worm gear sector.
#3 rebuilt the upper bolster ( I did not replace the top bushing).
#4 I had to replace the worm gear sector. I replaced with a used one.
Every one of these steps improved the wobble. It is about 95% better but I still get wobble in 5th gear.
I guess I should have replaced the top bushing in the upper bolster, but it looked good to me. guess not. That will be my next step.
I show how I rebuilt the upper Bolster on my web site if you find that you need to do it also.
good luck.
Kelly

Brcye, quick fix ,take the sheet metal off ,take the cover off the upper bolster (6- 9/16 inch bolts I believe)take cotter key out castle nut off, find a big enough washer to go over shaft (change oil or grease while their)re assemble .don't over snug castle nut but get it fairly tight.Check the castle nut first see if their is any adjustment left,if their is snug nut down, see how it works.

I just rebuilt my H steering at the same time I am trying to get it to run again and I put a new thrust bearing, It seemed to help it steer A LOT better(the little that I drove it in the shop). My thrust bearing came out in 3 pieces, it looked fine until I was told that it is one unit. Check to see if the sector and worm gear are worn. Replace the 3 bushings if they are worn.
