First what are you trying to do to that H,take it from a guy that knows about over loadng H motors, get that disc the he*% off that tractor less you are looking to kill it and stick big-n-tall $$$$ in to the reboiulding of the motor. i wouldn't pull a ten foot with the big brother M.

Well, now you all have my 100% attention. I have a 350U Gas Wheatland (age estimated to be about 1958) that runs like it just rolled out of the showroom (did tractors come fom Showrooms in the 50's or am I insulting my tractor?). The land I am on is hard clay and the farmer up the road told me that it his old family land I am on and that it has been broken once in history (his family settled the area in 1905). I picked up a 10ft wide Massey-Harris Trash-King cultivator (11 spades on it)at an auction during the summer. My 350U seemed to pull it fine in 1st gear, but how do I tell if I am overloading it. I am new to farming and these old tractors but I am already in love. I think that if I had to decide between the car and my 350U, the car would have to go. I would hate to hurt the tractor, so are there any guidelines I should pay attention to when using it for heavier work like this?

Nothing small about a 10 foot disc when your hooked to an H. Count your blades, 1hp per blade a good guide. Heavy discs will take more than 1 hp per disc. You may as well unhook, save yourself some money and time trying to solve this one. I supose the H will pull it if the discs are worn out. It will also pull a 10 foot roller that would be just as effective, as worn out disc blades.

If you are talking about a 10 ft tandem disk, your H will have a hard time pulling it, anyway.

Yhe balance is off you will need front weights. Second the tractor was not made to pick up that knid of weight on the back. Probably will need 300 or so wt on the front. You can make a rack on the frame to carry weights. Then you will need power steering to help steer and some good 5.50 front tires to carry the weight.
