I have a pretty significant amount of oil leaking at the front of my B. Possibly the water pump? Would it be good thing or bad thing to add an oil leak additive to my oil that is suppose to stop oil leaks?

First, a water pump wouldn't leak oil. Second, the B didn't come with a water pump, but it could be added. Also, adding Bar's leaks to the antifreeze as suggeested below would not stop an oil leak. Oil would most likely be coming from the crankshaft front seal. Oil additives just make the oil thicker and create a layer of tar inside the engine. My $0.02

How far up front? Front of tractor, or front of engine? Front of tractor could be your steering housing.. Most guys use grease that, but if you put gear oil in it, it will probably just leak out of those old gaskets and seals..

A B wouldn't have a water pump from the factory. Somebody could have added it later though.
I would suspect the front main crankshaft seal. You can try an oil additive, it may work for awhile, but I never had any luck with them.

The oil could be coming from a worn out seal at the crankshaft pulley. Mine was really pumping oil, then I replaced the seal and the leak is history. Just a thought, good luck with it.
