I am going to buy a Farmall 400 hopefully tomarrow. I want to turn the two point into a three point. A local blacksmith can make the bottom two links but how easy is it to make the top link bracket? Can you buy something at a Case IH dealer?

I've seen the 300's and 400's with different types of fast hitches. Some have a exposed rock shaft that a bracket can be mounted on. Others have threaded holes in the differental casting where a bracket can be bolted on. I have a early 300 which doesn't have either of these. I had to fabricate a mount that bolts on which works good.
If you want a picture let me know. You can also check out www.worksaver.com - they have some 2 to 3 pt. conversions.

IH made a 2 point to 3 point conversion (Part # 522076R91). This adapter plugs into your 2 point and has receptacles for the lift arm pins and top link. What I have done is put an adapter on every piece of equipment that I have. I sure is easier to just back into the adapter lift and go that mess around with trying to aliegn three point equipment. If you have never used your 2 point then you don't know what your missing.

you can even buy kits for exactly this, they have the two bottom prongs and something you bolt on for the top link. I forget how the top link works on the 400, but it somehow bolts on, or hooks onto the rockshaft.
