I recently snapped a stud while retorquing the head on my tractor. The stud was just installed, so it't not rusted in. Tried to reach it with a left hand drill, but drill wasn't long enough. Is it possible to remove it with a drill and are longer ones available? OR do I have to remove cylinder head to get the stud out? Any advice appreciated.

I'd pull the head and inspect all studs. They should never break under normal installation and use. You may have several that are near breaking unless this one broke from being over torqued. And if that is the case, a new head gasket would not be out of line.

I agree. Also, I always chase the threads of EVERY hole with a tap during a restoration. Saves alot of $%^&*(*% words later. Good Luck.

id agree with andy that stud should never break if you are using a torque wrench. Do you have the right foot lbs set on your wrench? Also are all the studs cylinder head grade studs? They are probably at least a grade 5. Also is this a bolt or stud? also clean holes ouy make sure you are not bottoming out which still wouldnt cause breakage-oil-too
