I'm about to replace the head studs on my F30 restoration project. Should I, or should I not use thread locker (and sealant) Any ideas? I'd appreciate it. I don't think the stud should be turning when the head is being torqued down.

don't mess with it. It'll just make the studs harder to get out in the future. Due to the fact that studs are usually coarse thread into the casting, and fine thread in the bolt, they will usually not turn any farther into the casting as you're torquing things down.

Sooner or later your stud will bottom out in the thread and stop turning... don't worry about it.
