Recentlly a friend gave me a Frankin Mint replica of a Farmall Dealers service truck. It was a DODGE. Now I see another delivery truck replica on E-Bay of a Farmall Dealers delivery truck by ERTL and it is a WHITE. It is really hard for me to believe that Farmall Dealers would not use only INTERNATIONAL TRUCKS.

Does anybody care to coment????? ????? ?????

I don't know what our IH dealer used before now but he has an International TB500 with a roll back, a GMC Top Kick, a International T700, and a Peterbilt 385 that he pulls a break away low boy with.

In the 60/80 when I worked at IH Dealer, we all had IH trucks & pickups, most dealers in IH were full line, if you sold Farm Equipment (FE) and trucks (MT), this was pretty standard in the smaller towns, the bigger cities had (CE) Construction and the big truck contract. I think it was almost a rule you better use IH. MT ran the show anyway, if you remember when IH started its slide only division thats left was from original IH is the trucks, Navastar.

All IHC dealers I knew of in the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's used IH trucks exclusively. There may have been some exceptions, but I can't think of any.

My grandfather's Farmall dealership used IH trucks. In the sixties and seveties when I worked there they had two Loadstars, an old 1400 and got a new 1600 around '67, a pickup (I don't remember the model but it had a six cyl. that a mechanic told me was the same engine as the 560), and a two wheel drive Scout(Farmall red, with a white roof). The 1600 was a huge improvement (the other was really old). We really overloaded everything back then; when we backed an 806 or 1206 with loaded tires onto it the front wheels would come up off the ground.
We used the pickup for service calls, and would deliver Super A's and smaller on a utility trailer behind it. Dad ran for the state senate in '64. He drove all over the district in the Scout because thought pople would think he snobbish if he was in his Buick.

BTW, he got my mom two Travelall demonstrators from an IH truck dealer, one in '63 and one in '68. I'd dearly love to have either one now - especially the '63.

Our local dealer drives Dodge service trucks-same engine as whats in some of the C-IH tractors. They have Cummings certified mechanics. They work on their own stuff, even if its warranty work. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Maybe IH had a good truck in some ways but my dad bought a new IH C-100 pickup in 1961. It had a V-304 V-8 engine. The engine used oil. IH put new rings on it 2 times. It still used oil. Someone at IH told my dad the block got to hard when they made it.
The heater was realy poor.

I retired about 6 1/2 years ago , after retirement, a local distributor asked me to pick up a few fire trucks in Alberta and bring then back to N.S. The trip was 5400 kl, quite a few of these vehicles were International's. A really nice vehicle to operate on the highway, lots of power, and speed, probably some of the nicer vehicles, that I have driven, so IH continues to make nice equipment. Cheers, Murray

Steven, a pic of our D-30 tractor hauler below, but only after we get the manure spreader replaced with a dump bed picked up this past weekend. Figure we can easily haul the B, LoBoy, and our LA to shows.

Ertl may have selected Dodge because of the market today, not for authenticity, but because they think more Dodges would sell over International.

That is an interesting thought on the Dodge styling. When the new Dodges came out in mid 90s, my first thought was they copied the 63 to 67 Internationals. Anyone else ever think that?

I thought so, too. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the new Dodges back in 1993
was the mid-60's Internationals.

When was a young lad our IH dealer had IH trucks. As I recall 2 pickups, a 1 ton and his salsman drove a Scout. Later on that same dealership used Chevy pickups and one of the light IH sa with duals. He always used a trailer on delivery of equipment.

I don't know what Franklin Mint and the others are thinking about, but the only Farmall dealer trucks I ever saw were Internationals - I can't remember the exact model, but I think the equipment delivery trucks were KB-6 or maybe KB-8 models. The service trucks were KB-1's, if my memory serves me right. Keep in mind that I'm talking about before the L-series.

IH has always made a hard working truck.....Maybe not fancy, but if you had work to do the IH truck was rugged..... .The dealers also bought these trucks at a good discount..... ..
