I bought a farmall 400 November 27th 2002 and still isn't delivered! but It will be used around the farm year round and then will pull with it at fair time. I am going to buy a Farmhand loader to put on it and was wondering if it could handle just picking up roundbales that weigh around 1500lbs and set them on a rack? It wouldn't be traveling very far, just from the ground to the rack. Also, were are going to modify the two point into a 3-point and put our 3-point bale mover on. Would it handle a 1500lb bale even if we put weights on the front?

The 400 will play with a #1500 round bale on the back.

It will handle a 1500 bale with out weights. I use to move them with a super M diesel with no trouble, had a tsc 3pt. hitch on it.

Pulling and loader work are mutually exclusive. the 400 would be a good loader tractor , with the right loader, but loader work will be tough on your tractor.

When used responcibly the loader shouldn't be near as hard on the tractor as pulling it in competition at the fair.
