I finaly got my 400 farmall after waiting two weeks. I went out on the highway, turned around and was getting back on after turning around on gravel road, and had to wait for a car so i put it in fifth gear with the torque back but it made a screaching noise and didn't move. Later on, I hooked on to our box scraper and put it on the ground. Put it in first gear with the torque ahead and started to pull. When it started to pull hard, i pulled it back and made the screaching noise again. But i put the clutch in and let it back out and finaly started moving again. I belive it is the overriding clutch in the TA that sometimes doesn't catch. I want to fix this so when I tractor pull i don't sitt half way down the track at a hault!

Your torque amplifier is out on the low side. The problem most likely is with the ramp and rollers. If it pulls fine in high range (direct) then your TA clutch is fine.
