Aren't you better off using a non-detergent oil in the oil cup so the particles will settle better or does it not really matter? Also what kinda luck anybody had with Lucas additives? Tkanks, Merry Christmas

it is best to use the same oil that you use in the engine and that should be Case-IH straight grade low ash oil preferred. The key is keep it clean by changing it more frequently in dirty conditions.

Change it regularly, and if in dusty conditions change daily. I have been involved in farming operations were we changed the oil in air cleaner daily.

Don't think it makes any difference -- the particles are compacted in the bottom of the cup by centrifugal force, so they do more than just settle.

I've used the Lucas power steering stop leak with success. It seemed to help with the steering trouble I was having with my old Volvo.

Doesn't matter. The detergent is really to keep the sludge from forming (and to help remove old sludge) inside an engine. It should have virtually no effect on your engine.

Just a tid-bit. When I first got my M, there was a ton of build-up of dust inside the intake pipe. I bought a hefty plastic toilet brush to clean all that out. So, don't take anything for granted.
