Got my 49 cub running really well today ,got up to Case I H today and got a brand new carb(will have to sell dog and child)the problem I am having is I tried the lifting arms no weight and they moved put on the snow plow and the lift arms will not pick up the plow.I was running out of day light (no shop) is this caused by water in the hyd res. or by low fluid levels,or something else.Calling for snow again in Maryland guess I will have to push snow in my nice warm Ford p/u.

you can get hydraulic- trans fluid (20wt) at Wal Mart or the local farm store supply.

Drain & refill the system with fresh hy-tran fluid, then with the fill plug still out & the engine at a moderate idle, run the control lever through 10 or 12 full cycles to push the air out. Run the lever to the full rear position and shut the engine off. Then fill the system to the bottom of the filler opening. (full system is about 3 1/2 pints.) Replace the filler plug & tighten. If it doesn't work after that, you have pump or control problems.

Yes, just check the specs to make sure it's compatible. You can also use straight wt. non-detergent oil.

Thanks,Steve and Bigdog,I just wasn't sure about the oil, that's all we use to use in all the tractors was non detergent motor oil in the hyd res.good or bad that was it .But now that I'm older and restoring is the game I want to get as close to correct as I can so I don't get the tractor Gods mad with me.

You may have near zero pressure in the system.
