I have a H that has had a alternator on it. The old fella I bought it from took the easy way out and cut a small square in the hood on the left side right through the H emblem and mounted it there. I decided to redo the old girl here about a month ago. I have the hood welded back and ground down so you can't tell it was cut. But here's my problem. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get that durn alternator under the hood where the original generator was. I have put many alternators onto tractors, but this one has me. I know it can be done I have saw it. Does some one have a bracket that they have made up to fit that they would be intrested in departing with. Or does anyone have a close-up picture or plans so I can this on for the show next week. She is almost all done being painted and that's all I like. Thanks. Bill {Antique Acres}

i have put many of thes on if you take your gen bracket turn it upside down put it back on then slide a piece of ready rod through both the alt and the bracket you should be real close to wre you need to be as far as a bracket goes contactag electrical in racine mn. ask for brian 1800-328-7845 he has a real nice zink plated bracket it is realclassy and not to$ also you may have to grind off the end of the alternator to clear by the rad mount ?sometimes you do sometimes you don't? it will be a tight fit but real handy.

Here's just another suggestion. My M was converted before I got it and all they did was mounted the old generator "c" shaped bracket so the legs pointed "up". Then they bolted the Delco model 10-S1 alternator to the front leg of the bracket so the alternator sits above and forward of the leg. A tensioner bar was fabricated from 1/4" bar stock with one end bolted to upper thermostat housing. Other end was drilled and filed out to form a "slot" for adjusting tension on the alt. belt. They might have gone to a shorter belt to keep the alt. as far toward the valve cover as possible but it allows the undamaged hood to fit over it. The belt runs true in both pulleys as well.
