You can also fi nd duel wheel adapters at bone yards that will work. As with George I hve the cast wheeet homels tyurned both ways. But i also hve the adapters which just snap on, they are easy to pull off and on since they just snap on and off. Since am out on the truck right know I don't hve the picture with me but if u send me an email ill get them to you as soon as I get home. They are just as nice looking , work well, are lighter, an when going to shows a heck of a lot easier to work with. Chuck

Brian,

100" axles help a lot, but it will work without...just not as much room for the operator. All you really need is another set of matching wheels.

26Red is right. Put the inside wheel's on so that they are dished in. Instead of just simply turning them around and putting them on the same side of tractor, take the wheel off the left side and put it on the right side and take the wheel off the right side and put it on the left side, this will allow you to install the wheel with the tire tread staying the same. Turning wheel around will cuase the tread to be opposite as to the way it was. Slide the wheel in on the axle as far as nescesary to install the second wheel. Mount the second wheel dished out. As for extra parts, all you will need is an extra set of rear wheels. I have never tried it but I am fairly certain that it will not work with both wheel's dished out. You might thank twice about having duals. I have two H's, one with fluid in rear tires and one without. I can tell the power difference in the tractors just by the extra weight of the fluid in the one. Extra rear wheel's will allow for extra traction, more stability, smoother ride, and so on but will make tractor harder to turn and I am certain you will notice a little loss of power especially when going up hill. My personal opinion is, is that the H is to small of tractor with not enough power for duals. Tractor doesn't put out enough torque to justify the duals.

I agree Bill that the H isn't a power house that normally requires more traction. I did however find that duals were a big help in floatation. I was drilling winter wheat on hilly ground in loess (wind born clay particles) soil that had been disked very deep and was extremely loose. The tractor would slide sideways downhill and leave pretty impressive ruts. By reversing 1st set and adding a second set of wheels/rims/tires I was able to keep the tactor & drill on course and not gouging up the nice loose seed bed. Worked for me but what a pain-and potentially dangerous- to add and reverse wheels. Dick Davis

Back in the early '50's my dad dualed up his JD B for a disking job in muck. Worked like a champ. 'Course the neighbors were all laughing and rolling in the aisles. Funny, no one's laughing at their sons and grandsons now with their dual and triples, and all wheel drives - how things change! If you have a need for duals - do it.

But duals look so cool! It makes people turn around and look twice to see an H or M with duals on it!

I have a good set of 12.4x38 tires on my H with 2 sets of weights (no chloride) and I sometimes find myself wishing for a little more traction when I work trees, but pulling full load in 1st gear is not something I do often.

Flip the wheels and rims around. Dish the inside cast hubs in. Buy another set of cast hubs and mount them on the axle dished out.
