My brother in laws dad passed away. His estate includes a 1942 H farmall on complete front and back steel. The rears are skeleton lugs and flat spoked. The tractor is fairly complete. It is a distillate burner and just missing shutters, fenders and possibly has the gas burning manifold on it. Has good original styled seat, but needs a steering wheel (it is bad). Tin is straight but has been sitting outside so it is the typical rust colored. It starts right up and runs good. I told the family I would ask you Farmallers what it is worth. Thanks in advance.

They must be very valuable. I know where a guy put his restored H on full steel on top of the silo for safekeeping. I never have my camera when I pass there every few years.

An estate auction I think is in the plans. Not sure if tractor will be included thus for some family members show some interests. I will report value findings here to family and will inquire whether the tractor will be liquidated. It is in Kansas.

I`d have to agree with Bill on the value. The steel wheels alone are worth at least $500 for the set.

That would be a nice tractor to have. I don't know the value, so I won't give a figure. I once sold the front steel wheel to a JD GPO for $500. and a rear set of convex steel wheels for a JD P for $1000. Price always depends on who wants it. If it were closer to me and in nice condition, I'd think I bought it right if I got it for $1500.

Not sure where CKNS lives, but complete steel for H's and M's is starting to get scarce. I have been seeing it bring $500 - $1000 depending on condition. I would think the tractor is worth $1200 - $2000. Bouncer

I'm not a steel wheel person, probably because I cultivated, disked, etc with an H with rear steel when I was a kid -- much preferred rubber tires. Had to drive on the side of packed field roads at lunch or quitting time to avoid getting shook to death. Nice collecters item if you like steel. I was pricing the H based on the description other than the wheels. Many sell in the price range you quoted.
