Didn't get a response on post of 1/21/03. Guess nobody else has this type of system or knows much about it. Thanks anyway.I know quite a few old potato farmers in Northern Maine. I bet one of them will know. Thanks again.

Missed one of your questions from the original post. Yes, you should be able to run with a suction line going to the pump and a pressure line back to the reservoir. The pressure line should go into the valve that is inside the reservoir (assuming you have a lever on the side of the reservoir).

I didn't post because I thought someone else would know more than me, but I guess not.

I have a Super MTA which should have basically the same system as you. The live hydraulic systems use Hy-Tran or another hydraulic fluid. The reservoir is under the fuel tank and has a lever on the right hand side, this lever controls 1-way hydraulics out of (I think) 2 ports on the left hand side of the reservoir.

My SMTA has a 2-way valve on it also, and in order for that to work the lever on the reservoir has to be locked back. If you don't have a 2-way lever on yours and would like to add one, see my website under hydraulic tricks - just take pressure from the reservoir ports, tie the lever back and put the return into the drain hole of the reservoir.

Email me if you need more help, or post here.

Steven- When did you get the MTA? Thought you only had an H and a W9.

SMTA was the 2nd of the letter series on the farm. Got an A too! Guess I haven't gotten around to putting them on the website I link to all the time yet. I try to keep one for just current projects. Check out Link for some other stuff I have.

Steven@nd, Thanks for the excellent reply. That's exactly what I was looking for. I enjoy all the knowledgeable posts that you submit and have used a lot of your information on my tractors. You're pictures on the Hyd. Valve tricks was great. Please keep it up. Thanks Again. From another cold State of Vermont. Minus 20 degrees tonight.
