I have a IH300 utility and am putting a loader on it. The problem is that the tractor I took it off had power steering. There is a hydraulic line that goes from the loader valves to the two point hitch valve and then into the back of the safety regulater block. This is also where the power steering line comes from. The problem is my safety regulater block doesn't have the port for either line.I am not sure if this line was just for the power steering, or if I have to buy the right safety regulater block. If this line was for the power steering I shouild be able to simply cap it off. NONE OF MY BOOKS SHOW THIS LINE.

You need the regulator block off the other tractor- it contains a priority valve for the powersteering- so you don't ever lose powersteering with using the loader. That would be the easiest fix. Otherwise you would have to splice in a external regulator downstream from the hydraulic pump in the high prssure line.

Do you have powersteering on your 300? If not just plumb up your lines to the loader. I'm still a little confused as to why the line runs from the loader valves to the two point hitch valve? Are the loader valves mounted on loader frame itself? How many hydraulic valves are mounted on the tractor? You should have a least one to run the two point hitch, and another to run the rear hydraulic ports for implements.

Let me know what your setup is and I'll try help you out.

basically the difference is the other tractor had power steering and mine does not.I have one valve that bolts through the regulater block into the tank. This is for the hitch. Then I have two original IH valves for the loader that also through bolt into the tank. The steel line runs from the loader valve to the hitch valve and then it used to go into the back of the safety reg block where the priority valve would be if Ihad power steering.whichmakes me believe this was the supply for the power steering. But i am not sure. THANKS FOR ANY HELP YOU OFFER

I'm going to disagree with jmyt_47@MN and say that you're almost certainly OK with what you have for what I think you're trying to do. However, if you're also trying to add the power steering, you'll need the regulating block of the tractor you're robbing for parts to make it work, as he indicated.

Starting with what you have on your non-power-steering tractor, you can do one of two things to add the loader, without the power steering:

1) Make sure all three openings on the side of the reservoir at the mounting for the new valves at the front of the reservoir are open, and just mount the valves with the required O-rings. Make sure the hole where the external tubing connected to the cover (if you're using the one that came with the loader) is plugged. Hook up your hoses and away you go.

2) Or you can also hook up the external tubing connection between the two banks of valves, but you don't need the tubing connection going from the rear (hitch) control valve to the regulating/safety block (this in ONLY needed if you're actually using the original power steering setup, and there shouldn't be any port for it in the regulating block on your tractor, anyway).

The external tubing is for the high pressure fluid, and parallels a channel inside the reservoir. The power steering option on the 300U was really a kludge to enable grafting the closed-center hydraulics of the power steering onto the basic hyraulics. The latter used a third port to the control valves to sense whether the control valve was open or not; a loss of pressure on this line when the valve was opened causes the hydraulic pump to be loaded up, otherwise it just idles.

In a system with power steering, hydraulic supply to it took priority; if any capacity was left it was supplied to the control valves via the outlet port and external tubing from the regulating block. The internal passages in the reservoir are blocked off when using the power steering option.

Hope this helps rather than confuses. If you have the parts manual (TC-57A), this is all shown on page 370. Email me if you need (and can tolerate) any more input.

Brett, I can't help you with the problem, but I would be interested in how you did this. I have a 300U that I want to add power steering and a loader. I wuold appreciate you posting some pics so myself and others can see how you did it. Thanx, Irv
