the SMTA is a great tractor i dont blame you for wanting just that one M's are very comin. the MD isnt so comin i think as i dont know any one with onebut for all i know the guy next store might have one eh. what kind of shape is the smta in cause if the guy says that 2500 if a far cry lfrom fwhat he wants i would say that the smta beter look good and one of the others. note you could make up the whole/most by partsing out on or two of the M's. got a thought

Brad, These other folks are awful FREE with your hard earned $$$$$$. Its easer to add dollars to an allready low offer. You can't go backwards.
Start with NO-MORE than $1000 on your offer.
Be face-to-face with this feller, Put your hands
in your pockets,Kick at the ground, Tell him How much trouble it will be to get them going again and you need him to give a break in taking this junk off his hands. Then after it is over and you are in your Pick-up headed home scream and smile with delight for you hopefully gotten the best deal possible on 4 Farmall Ms. What are they worth [after-the-fact]..... .PRICELESS
Good Luck John A.

Offer him 1500.00 I'll bet he takes it...there's alot of difference between what a bunch of red is
worth, not running in a pile,, and all dressed up
or parted out on the shelf...you can get alot of
money out of any of them in running, restored shape...but that's a long way from what you describe....Good Luck....

Offer him 2000-2500. The tires(if all the big ones are good) are worth 300 per tractor. Fenders are worth $200 each. The M&W handlutch is worth a couple hundred. An uncracked M engine block is supposedly worth $800, although I have not been fortunate enough to need one. Shoot me an email(sweetSPAMcorn70@hotmail.com, delete "SPAM" out of the middle) if you want, I might be interested in the 2 Ms or the MTA.

Mike

I agree with the other two replys. It's hard to be both the buyer and the seller. Jim T

Only thing of any value is the MTA, if it runs, and if its all there. These tractors bring a lot of money restored. MTA from your description may be worth $2500. The running M may be worth $1000 or less. Rest is junk, unless you want to part them out. Offer him $2000 for the whole thing, and don't get upset if he laughs you out of town, as the ball will be in his court. Otherwise I agree with Dave_ID.

Obviously you have no idea what your talking about an MD is worth alot more than an MTA.It may cost more to fix up but one heck of a tractor when it is.

He said the MD was stuck, you just don't offer much for a stuck tractor. Perhaps I should retract the junk. Most heads on old well-used MD's are cracked, might run a long time that way, might not. More valuable when fixed up, maybe. But parts are expensive. I really don't see MD's advertised for more than an MTA, probably because the MTA's are somewhat over priced. Now an MDTA -- that's a different story.

The one guys cnks, why do you say the rest is junk, an md is more valuable than an m-ta, it just cost more to fix up.

My point was (ignoring the non-running M's): There is a running MTA, and a stuck MD. Which is worth the most money, now? Not after you have spent several thousand fixing either one of them up. I will retract the junk part.

How much does he want for the package??? I hate dealing with people who don't know what they want for the stuff, they are just hoping for someone to come along that doesn't know what the stuff is worth... The only thing to do with these people is to lowball your offer, then MAYBE they are willing to give the price they'd like for the stuff.

the guy that said it is hard to be buyer and seller both is exactly right offer next to nothing and then when he says no is your time to ask him what he wants if he truely wants to sell the tractors he will give you a price and if not the fellow that said he is hoping somebody comes along that does not have an idea of what they are worth and makes a crazy offer good luck
