I found a f-20 real close to me for sale I have always been a John Deere fan so I don't know much about them. Did they make f20 in electric start and what would be the horsepower on a f 20. Also are the parts hard to get for these tractors?

F-20's were crank start only from factory. I have heard story's of some of the last ones in the final year being with battery start. Not sure if this was factory or not. The F-20 took the place of the earlier tractors such as the regular and 10-20. Those earlier tractors at some point had the horsepower of 20 on the belt pulley and 10 on the drawbar. The F-20 was probable to have a little more since it was newer and no doubt was improved a little. Not sure what the actual horsepower rating was when new. New parts are still somewhat available, and used parts should be fairly easy to find since so many were made, and many sit in a parting out condition today.

I've got a '36 F-20 and love it. They're well built and easy to maintain. Mine's got a hand crank to start it and I prefer cranking to electric because it's simple like me. It starts every time with just a few pulls. If you can get the tractor cheap without it needing 20 grand of repairs, it might be a nice acquisition.

Officially, they had 19 Drawbar HP and 27 Belt/PTO HP. 150,000 were made between 1932 and 1940. The electric starter was a popular non-IHC add-on.

I believe it is about 24hp. Electric start F-20s came in the last year of production as an option but I may be wrong. For parts Rice Equipment has almost all you need. I don't have the phone # now but can re-post it later unless someone else has it.
