Don't know how to do this on a 400gas

I have a 1955 Farmall 400 gas, with a positive ground six volt system and want to change to twelve volt. First of all, there is a little box on the side of the tractor with three wires running out one side, and one on the other. I've took most of the covering off of the wiring harness because most wires are worthless. The single wire towards the back, is from the generator, and on the front, one is the other generator wire, one to the key and one to i can't remember. All that i know is that, i want to keep it simple with an alternator. Go from it, to the guage, than to the battery. Which deletes the single wire and one on the other side. I think that one has to do with the celinoid on the starter. can i just go from the key to the celenoid? or do i have to keep my wires to that box? as you can tell, i'm just a bit confused!

Move your pointer over to the left side of the screen & click on "Articles" in the Research & Info section.
Scroll down to "Maintenance and Mechanical Information" and there are several articles on 12 volt conversion principles.
Be sure you have a owner's & parts manual plus the service manual at your side; they answer sooo many questions.
I used a 400 gas for many years on Dad's farm.
Best wishes
