Gentlemen,

As alway, thanks for your help in advance.

This weekend I went out to use my 350, and I figured I'd do a quick fluids check, where I noticed that I'm leaking fluid from the hydraulic pump to the crankcase.

First, does anyone know the part number to the seal that needs to be replaced, will the Case dealership have it in stock? If not, where can I get it from?

Secondly, I want to know how long I should plan for this repair. Looking at it in my repair manual it seems to be rather straight forward. What surprises should I be prepared for? Should I call in re-inforcements (father-in-law) to give me a hand?

Finally, since I'm going to be removing the pump and draining the fluids, is there anything else I should plan on doing at this time?

Thanks,

Andy

Standard seals that you should be able to get at Napa. Just to be on the safe side, I brought TDC lined up with #1cyl. The only thing that needs to watch out for it get the pump back in with the right teeth alined. With helical gears, it was a little trickey

Thanks Dave_id!!!!!

Yet another quick question?

What is the best way to bring it to TDC? I don't have a hand crank. I was thinking of blocking up the rear tires, and rotating them while in 4th gear.

Andy - To set to TDC first mark the outside of the distributor housing where the #1 plug tower is the dist cap. Then remove the distributor cap, but leave the rotor button in place. Now "bump" the starter while watching the distributor rotor. Stop when the rotor terminal nears the mark you made on the dist housing. Finally grab the fan blade and use it to manually turn the engine the last bit to TDC - indicated when the pointer on the timing gear cover lines up with a notch mark on the crank pully. (Sometimes it helps to remove the spark plugs for this step...)

Now if you don't disturb the crankshaft with the hyd pump removed, all you need do is make sure the distributor rotor lines up with the mark on the housing when the hyd pump/distributor are back in place.
