Left DC 17:00 arived home 19:05.not much just a skiff every body was doing 30 mph up I95,now I know you have to have caution but were these people come from is beyond me.I really wish you guys up north would volunteer to take some of these fair weather drivers up there and teach them how to drive in the snow,God forbid if we got a foot, there would be no toilet paper or milk left in the store.Well I better go out and put my chains on and get my snow blower out it just might get deep enough to cover my boot soles.

Been driving through the White Stuff my whole life up here in Minnesota. We have lots of Immigrants rolling in and I think they are rolling out. It has been 10 below at night for the last week or so and the roads are deserted mostly during early rush hour. I do not mind the Snow. I do not like the Missouri Ice Storms. They are the worst. Blizzards are bad, Missouri Ice Storms are the worst.

Anybody agree?

We lived up in Eldersburg in 96 and 97, worked over on Dorsey Road. I heartily agree about the winter driving in Maryland, unsaafe at any speed!

Bill: You are probably better off with the people that don't know how to drive on snow. We have had a lot of icey road days this winter. Yesterday was one of worst. Temp right around freezing, couple inches snow fell, temp droped very rapidly, salt stopped working and black top turned into a glaze. The idiots around here think they can drive 60 mph on that. Trucks on 4 lane were off by 15 mph, and running arround 50 mph. It was slipery enough that log truck would spin at 50 mph. Cars, mini-vans and SUV still whizzing along.

Don't you think we would all be better off if ALL vehicles on the road could not go any faster than a hot running Super A????

Clipper: You may be right, and if that be the case for driving pleasure a good horse and driving buggy would be the answer. Had this discuccion one day with a Mennonite. I suggested they may have it right as their transportation doesn't cause this greish-blue haze in air. He replied," If you guys all went to horse and wagon, horse manure would then become the problem." One thing about the horses,I'd be willing to bet they wouldn't create the conjestion their drivers do. My dad told me once about his uncle, used to go to town some 20 miles away, would get stoned drunk, his friends would load him in buggy and horse always landed him home safely. Dad was giving a little lecture on the fact we no longer had that luxury.

My Grandfather had a plank-wood floored Saloon complete with sawdust on the floor and spitoons along the main bar. As a youngster spending summer time with him there was more than one ocassion I remember him loading a farmer on his horse tied up behind the saloon and sending both off on their way home. Never seen a horse arrested for DWI!!!

Hugh, you are hitting on all four on that,we have them down here also.I'm not sure what happened last night.I did notice the ocasional hot rod weaving through traffic. What ever happened to snow tires,a street tread radial just dosn't cut it when the white stuff lays on the roads and people think with the fancy BMW's and such with a good rain or high speed tire that the car will stop and manuver like it was dry.

Kelly C,this one wasn't worth the effort, all you'd do is scape up the blacktop.
