Hello, My uncle is considering purchasing a IH 606 gas,TA and a bucket loader, new motor very good tires. Can anyone tell me how many hp this tractor has? Can anyone tell me how old this tractor mite be.It is in very good shape but he is not sure about the TA. How well do they work? Is it a major problem if they don't?I know this is a loaded question but does anyone have a general idea what this tractor mite be worth?Thank's. Brian S.

The 606 Diesel is a strong tractor. I use one up here on MtLassen to grade the road. I bought mine two years ago running and ugly for 2,500 and hav spent about 1,500 for impliments and minor repairs. My TA works fine and I use it while grading to change speeds as the surfaces changes.

The 606 was made from 1962 to 1967 and had 54 HP at the PTo, gas and Diesel. According to the I&T 2002 used tractor price guide, they go for $1570 to $4300 in gas, depending on year and condition. The lowest price was for a 1962 in fair condition and the high was for a 1967 in cream puff condition. That doesnt factor in a loader, tho, figure maybe $500.00 to $1,000 or more for the loader depending on type and condition. I have heard mixed reviews about the TA's, some who enter tractor pulls with the tractor in the larger sizes take the TA out and put in a solid shaft, but then I have heard that they were pretty reliable, especially in the lower end of the HP range. Hope this $0.02 from a green fan helps some, I grew up with IH's on the farm and they were always good tractors.
