I have located a farmall MD that i would like to buy and fix up. It runs good and the head is not cracked. It also has good sheet metal. They are asking $2500. I am just getting started with the old tractors so i don't know much about the value of them. I want it for an FFA project. What do you guys think about the price. Thank You. Adam

I think that sounds a little high, make the guy an offer and see what he says. I agree with Haas though there aren't many of them left I have one thats been totally redone and it took alot of money to get ot to it's present state and its the only one i've ever seen at any of the shows we attend.

Unless it is exceptional condition, I think $2500 is a bit on the high side. However, if the engine is in good condition, it may be worth it. Rebuild of the MD engine is very expensive plus it's hard to find some of the parts. The MDs were only about 5 % of the Ms produced and because of the expense of rebuild and the complexity of operation, you see few of them at tractor shows. Unless it's a very large show, the one I have is usually the only one there.

That price would be alright if the engine has been rebuilt. We rebuilt our MD about two years ago and it can cost up to $3000. to do the job right.

I think $2500 may be a little high for an MD unless it is in exeptional shape. I bought one for about $1000 4 years ago and it ran and had good sheetmetal. Also, keep in mind it is expensive to do engine rebuilding on an MD as most parts are not made any more. I just went through that restoring the MD I bought. It is a great tractor though with the gasoline start and running on diesel. I don't think there are a lot of them around anymore, as the local salvage yard told me that they haven't got any MD's in for over 5 years. People must be just keeping them and restoring them or saving for restoration. I always wondered how many are left as the local salvage yard has a bunch of skeletons. Roger

It sounds a little high to me.

But tractors bring different prices in different parts of the country.

You might find an M cheaper and easier to work on than an MD.

Well, we already have an M, H, and 350. I always wanted an MD like grandpa had.

I have an MD widefront, all original with a stuck engine.I don't think it had a lot of wear tho.The diamond pattern on the brake pedals is not worn much nor is the pattern on the clutch. I am a little leery about tearing into the engine because of it's complicity.
