The girlfriend and I went to look at some tractors that were advertised for sale this afternoon, and it soon became appearant that this guy was following #4 of Roger's Rules. We went to the house and his wife met us at the door and when I said we came to buy tractors, she smiled and sent us to the barn where the tractor geezer was playing. He showed us his tractors, more than I could count without taking off my shoes, and when I asked prices, he hemmed and hawed and never gave a price, except for one that we had no interest in. I asked about a set of wheel weights for a cub, which I badly need for my snow plow tractor, and he gave a price. I went over to them and fondled them and looked very interested, so he raised the price. He spent most of the time showing the girlfriend his tractors, since she was not trying to corner him with pricing questions. He then showed us his shop. When we left, the girlfriend pointed out that he was obviously using rule #4 to appease the wife, but had no intention of selling anything. She said "notice how he was in the barn, so the wife had to answer the door and hear us say we wanted to buy tractors". That should be an upgrade from rule #4 to rule #4.1 It was fun to look anyway, and he was a very nice guy, so we had fun.

I think it's wonderful that you helped him out by playing along. We gotta stick together on this. And there will almost certainly be a reward for you down the line. When she finally figures out what the old goat has been doing and divorces him, she will want to annoy the bejeepers out of him and then you can help HER by buying one of his prize tractors for about a half of what it's worth. He'd want you to have it. Once during cardiac trouble I flat-lined for six seconds...I have the EKG tape to prove it...and by the time I came back, Linda had sold two of my tractors.

Girlfriend says it's just as well he wouldn't sell the tractor. We would have had to arm wrestle over who got to buy it.

These are extra light weights. You assemble and inflate them after arrival. Kinda like prefab post holes, also attainable from Nebraska suppliers. They come without the dirt.

I am in Connecticut. I wonder what the shipping price will be. I think they will just go under the limit for UPS if they are not boxed.

I checked ups and it would be $86 from columbus. It would be cheaper to drive out there and buy a tractor while I was there.
