I've had the drums and discs of my 414 and found lots of oil which I assume is leaking from the splined shaft which holds the brake assembly. There is a ring containing 6 bolts which would have to be removed to replace the seals which I again assume are behind it.What needs to be done to remove them, gear puller? Am I on the right track?

Bob I checked both operators manual and I-T manual and both picture the brake system right up to the side of the tractor and there it stops. I am concerned that if you remove those bolts and try to pull that ring it may be affected by what you can't see inside. If it is clearly a retaining ring you are ok but if it is holding the pinion gear bearing it may only go inward for removal and any attempt to pull on it could cause some serious damage. I'm not sure where you go to find out, your local case I-H dealer could tell you quickly with an expanded view on their microfiche. Good luck Mike in Exeter Ontario

I have my B-414 maparts manual out (I have a B-414) . It would appear that you can pull the left "Bull pinion cage" off without losing the whole world. As always with a differential lock tractor (in most case, anyway) you will need to tie the differential lock down so that it will be on both pinions. Hold the pinion shaft in while rpulling the cage off. The part # for the seal is---703 908 R92. Good luck. It is possible that this seal is replaceable WITHOUT removing the "cage" or housing. I can't tell from the parts book.
