A fellow in an earlier post had "wired" his lift-all lever in the lift position and used it to run a "live" hydraulic feed to a spool valve set-up. I had thought of using my belly pump like this to run a "live" system but wasn't sure if it would damage it leaving it running constantly, even when the spool valve it fed was closed.

Would this cause damage, or would the spool valve just flow oil back to the resevoir when pressure wasn't needed? Even if it did, would running the pump continuously cause damage?

Brent - As long as you feed an open center, 4-way remote valve from the belly pump outlet, you won't a thing to tie the liftall lever back so the pump runs continuously in the "raise" position. In fact some liftalls have a latch on the control rod to accomplish exactly that without resorting to wires, etc to tie the lever back. My stage I (non-live hydraulic equipped) Super H came from the factory equipped with the liftall lever latch and an aux 4-way remote valve.

Keep in mind however this set-up will not be "live"! Soon as you hit the clutch the belly pump will stop and so will the hydraulics.

Yep, I knew that and realized I shouldn't have used "live", but another word. My 560 has actual "live" hydraulics and is my main loader tractor. I just wanted to get a little more "precision control" on the H than the lift-all lever and thought putting a spool valve on would help. I eventually want to put a live system on but the $ is pretty steep to do so the way it looks.

Thanks!

The pump runs all the time that the clutch is engaged anyway. It just bypasses internally. As long as the pump is not continuously pressurized and can bypass back to the reservoir through a control valve it will not hurt to lock the lift all in lift mode.

HAAS ; WOULD'NT THIS BE SOMEWHAT LIKE AN OPEN VALVE SYSTEM?

Yes, it's an open center valve system. The lift all itself is also, but it is only a one way system and it circulates internally. You just lock the lift all in lift position and add the open center control valve with the recirculation going back to the lift all reservoir.
