FM: In my neck of the woods it is hard for me to imagion an 806 with only 3,500 hours. Most tractors here see a min of 400 hours per year and a lot of the larger tractors are going the 1,000 hours per year. You sound like you are absolutely sure this tractor has only 3,500 hours. At 3,500 hours this tractor should feel like a new tractor to drive. Controlls such as steering, shift levers, throttle, hydraulics, pto and pedals should have that new feeling, no looseness, no side play. The 806 was one of the exceptionally good tractors. One in good working order should work alongside or out perform any new tractor in that hp class. It has dual live PTO, 3point hitch cat 2 or 3 lower link sencing. As a working tractor Farmalls became a lot more valuable with the introduction of 04 and 06 series configuration change moving operator foreward and allowing rear hitches to raise implements to a good height. Steering linkages improved greatly at that time also, you could put a 06 tractor on a small tractor job and have it manuver just as well. The items one must concern themself with on a low hour 06 or 56 tractor are items that deteriorate from lack of use. You have chosen a difficult one to acess. Get a guy with Farmall experience ( 2 minds better than one, I always find having a critic along when looking at anything used is valuable) and a dyno, go over it with a five tooth comb aproach. Value of this tractor could vary widely. If in super condition and you can put it to work with confidence it is worth a lot of money. Remember this; an end to end complete rebuild on an 806 today could exceed $20,000. Not likely but COULD.
