IH434(424) Jerky Hydraulics?

When I raise my blower and leave it, my hydraulics starts to jerk. Generally it works OK except for this nuisance problem.

Don't know if it's related but there also is a bit of a leakdown, not a noticable drop but gradual over bit of time.

Thanks for the help.

Hyd. oil suction filter cover is not sealed up correctly and letting air in to pump suction. My IH 340 with IH 2000 loader was doing this so bad that when rasing empty bucket, the front end would shake so bad that the tires would almost come off the ground. Redid the filter cover gasket and the problem went away.

I hope you have an owers manual, because this will make more sense if you do. Under the seat, or somewhere around there is a shut off valve for the hydraulics. That valve is used if you want to connect a remote. The valve shuts off the hydraulics to the 3 point cylinder (The cylinder is inside the unit). Raise the 3 point with a load on it. Then shut off the valve (Don't try to operate the 3 point with the valve closed). If the load does not stay up, then likely you have a bad seal in the internal cylinder that works the 3 point. If it does stay up, then you have bad control valve that is letting the fluid leak off from the cylinder. I'm betting it is a bad piston in your internal cylinder. I had this problem on the 424 I once owned. It was a bad seal (and piston) on the internal cylinder. The original seal on these pistons was leather. Better to replace it with a new piston that has an O ring seal. The IH piston is very expensive. However, you can use a piston from a Mahindra tractor parts dealer. It will cost less than 1/2 the IH part. That is what the mechanic that fixed mine did. Also, if your piston is still good, you can have a machine shop machine a groove in it for an O ring.

Thanks Haas.

Are we talking major tear down or is all this accessible without splitting the tractor?

My manual is still in the mail.

Thanks

When you find out, let me know. My B-414 (same system), my neighbors 424, and another neighbors 354 all do it. All of them have been bacvk to the IH shop for this problem.

My guess is that it's dirty oil,low oil or filter (wherever that is) needs cleaning.

A major piston problem I would assume would cause no lift at all, so I'm not too worried about it. If an engine is good and the clutch doesn't slip, and the gears don't pop out I figure hydraulics aren't that much to fix.
